Papier-mâché 5 week sculpture course
Papier-mâché 5 week sculpture course
Join us for a 5-week Papier-Mâché Sculpture course at Maya Ceramics and Paintings studio in Woodland Hills. This hands-on class is open to all levels — no prior sculpture experience needed.
We'll work with simple, eco-friendly materials: newspaper, homemade flour paste (engrudo), and basic armature wire. Through guided projects, you'll learn how to build and layer forms, shape and sand surfaces, and finish your pieces with bright acrylic paint.
What you'll make: By the end of the five sessions, you'll complete two animal sculptures — a small/medium piece built entirely from paper, and a medium-to-large piece constructed over a wire armature. The last session also includes optional add-on projects (bowl, mirror, or similar) for an extra materials fee.
All materials are provided, including armature wire, masking tape, unbleached flour, paintbrushes, sandpaper, acrylic paints, and drawing paper. Just bring yourself and wear clothes you don't mind getting messy.
Schedule: Tuesdays, 5:00–7:00 PM, May 19, 26, June 2, 9 and 16.
